My domains
Since I own quite some domain names I needed some sort of overview over them, and thats why I made this page. It contains a list of the domain names I own, and a little description of why I bought it. Enjoy!
tenzer.dk - Registered in January, 2004
My oldest domain name. I bought it because I needed a domain name for a website I wanted to make, and what would be more obvious to choose than my nick? The domain was created by the hosting company Cliche, together with a hosting solution to around 9 DKK/month.
l0rn.it - Registered in August, 2004
This was from when I was living in Sweden, and had my own server running at home. Cliche would for some reason not point a subdomain of tenzer.dk to my IP address at home, so I bought another domain name to use for that. Since I was using IRC and had a BNC running on my server, I wanted to have a cool reverse DNS name set up. I ended up buying the domain l0rn.it, and got the reverse DNS "thinks.you.should.l0rn.it" set up to my IP address at that time. The reverse DNS record was still set up long after I moved back to Denmark, but seems to be gone now. The IP address I had was: 80.65.206.240 :)
geekfood.dk - Registered in January, 2005
Me and one of my colleagues from Sweden (Virus) often enjoyed making dinner together, and came up with the idea of a recipe site for geeks. It should have all sorts of simple recipes for good food, since geeks don't want to use more time making the food than eating it. In the recipes we would use various computer terms to spice it up a bit, and have the entire site themed computer-related. Unfortunately we didn't get very far... I got a logo made, and we did take pictures of the first two recipes, but that was about it. We never made the site or got any recipes done :/
marzone.dk - Registered in Marts, 2005 (deleted)
This was for a project of setting up some IRC servers, and link them together. I can't remember if there where anything else in the project then that, but we did get the servers linked. The problem was to get users into the network, so the project got ditched and nothing more happened to it.
A cool thing about the domain name, is that you can both read it as MarZone or MarzOne. Theres a little wordplay going on there ;)
dgwc.dk - Registered in April, 2005 (deleted)
I was playing GuildWars once, and set up to create a Danish community site for the game. The name was going to be "Danish GuildWars Community" - DGWC. We got ourself an IRC channel and where about 10 users in there, if I remember correctly. I didn't play the game for that long, and the project was abandoned rather quickly.
rateit.nu - Registered in September, 2005 (deleted)
Another domain for a project together with one of my colleagues (Sconk) from Sweden. It was supposed to be a JavaScript thingie which made the visitors on a homepage able to rate a site, and generate some statistics from that. We had a small JavaScript menu in the lower right of the page where this was controlled from. The development on the project didn't go on for long.
hotpc.dk - Registered in October, 2005
I had planned to get myself a HTPC, and start a community site for it. The domain hotpc.dk was free so I bought it for the site. It also have a kind of wordplay to it, since it was meant to be written as HoTPC.dk. I never got myself a HTPC due to lack of money and a proper TV.
fc-zulu.dk - Registered in October, 2005 (deleted)
FC Zulu is a Danish soccer team featured on TV in Denmark for a couple of seasons. It consisted of nerd which were bad at sports, and they had to get them self prepared to meet some players from the Danish soccer team FCK, a Swedish version of the same concept, and later on a Spanish too. I saw both of the matches at the stadium when they played against FC Z and Paketes FC :)
halv-a.be - Registered in December, 2005 (deleted)
EuroDNS had a offer that everybody could get up to three .be domain names for free for the first year, so I bought this domain name halv-a.be, spelled "halv abe" and meaning "morron" in Danish. I never really found any use for it.
tnzr.dk - Registered in February, 2006 (deleted)
I think this domain was a bit of a brainfart. I thought it would be cool with a shorter version of my nick and a four letter domain name. I have used the nick "Tnzr" for CS and CoD 2 gaming earlier, that is the only reason I can think of buying the domain.
etqw.dk - Registered in Marts, 2006 (deleted)
Among Battlefield players are the mostly anticipated game probably ET:QW, and when the game was announced people where quick to register domain names relating to the game. I grabbed my hands a etqw.dk and it is just redirecting visitors into the GeeksNet Quake Wars page.
fihl.eu - Registered in April, 2006
I wanted to get a .eu domain and set my eyes on fihl.eu, since fihl.dk already is registered to another company. By the way, "Fihl" is my middlename. I planned on hosting e-mail for my family on this domain and maybe homepages for them too, but my family seems to be satisfied with their current e-mail addresses, so nothing more happened to it. I also had some problems with setting up the mail server, and haven't messed with it since.
ircquot.es - Registered in May, 2006
I love domains where the TLD and domainname together forms a word, as with del.icio.us. ircquot.es where ment to be a site for IRC quotes just like Bash.org and others. Maybe I will get a page made for that one day.
warsow.dk - Registered in June, 2006
I first tried Warsow in the summer 2006, and was so amazed about it, that I instantly bought warsow.dk. Now I'm playing the game way more than I did then, and I have had 10 servers running under the "Warsow.dk" name.
nbsp.dk - Registered in August, 2006 (deleted)
This was also a brainfart as with tnzr.dk. "nbsp" refers to the HTML way of writing a whitespace: " ". I don't know what the purpose of the domainname was at the given point, so I'm gonna remove the domain again...
juicepriser.dk - Registered in November, 2006 (deleted)
When I played Battlefield 2, one of my co-players ("Geo") always talked about applejuice, and we had alot of fun about that. I wondered why there weren't any index pages which showed where to get the cheapest juice, so I bought juicepriser.dk ("juiceprices.dk" in Danish) but never got a site made for the domain.
valutaer.info - Registered in Marts, 2007 (deleted)
When I need to get a currency calculated into another currency, I always use valutakurser.dk even though I hate the site, due to the unimportant Java applet which takes ages to load. So I set up for creating my own site for converting currencies, and got to try out management of XML files in PHP 5 using SimpleXML, since I was using the XML file from the Danish National Bank with currencies.
I lost the pages I have made when my server crashed, but maybe I can get the site up and running again.
jeppe.it - Registered in Marts, 2007
Since my firstname is Jeppe I wanted to have a domainname which contains this, and for some reason I chose a .it domain. I don't know why really, since .it domains are a bit harder to get registered than all other domains I have. You have to fax a signed LAR to the Italian registry which is in Italian. .it domains are the only one where I needed to sign anything in order to get a domain registered. Together with fihl.eu I only need a domainname with "Toustrup", my lastname ;)
waq.dk - Registered in June, 2007
I saw this domainname was free by a coincidence and registered it immediately. There aren't many free .dk domains of only three letters, are pronounce able and easy to type on a keyboard, which I think this domain is. I pronounce the domainname like "wack" or "whack" which I think is kind of cool. Maybe I will get a good idea for usage of the domain sometime :)
trac.dk - Registrered in January, 2008
I have lately been looking at the project management system "Trac", which a lot of open-source projects are using as their homepage and wiki system. It is built on top of the VCS Subversion. I plan on setting up some free hosting of Trac and Subversion for open-source projects, but I am unsure if I should be using waq.dk or trac.dk as the domain name for it, but now I at least hold both.
