Open Source
I'm a fan of open source, and I have tried to contribute in the ways I can back to the community. This is a list of open source stuff I have contributed with.
Development
The only major useful programming language I know is PHP which limits how much I am able to contribute code wise to a lot of projects. However, one of the things I am able to make is WordPress plugins, and I have also made some other small code pieces.
- Zim PHP renderer - A single-file PHP script which renders a Zim repository (Outdated).
- Zenphoto Sitemap - A sitemaps.org compatible sitemap generator for Zenphoto.
I have also been trying to help out the illumos project, which aims to replace non-open source bits of the OS/Net codebase from OpenSolaris, and to provide a base for distributions to build upon. My work has primarily been in the documentation department, and helping users out with problems and questions they may have.
Translations
One of the more simple ways of contributing when not being English, is by translating software to your native language. I have done this for several software products, and I hope that I remember all of them:
- Browsershots - A must for webdesigners. It takes a screenshot of your homepage in all kinds of different browsers, so you can see how the page looks in browsers you don't have access to.
- Zim desktop wiki - A desktop wiki which allows you to quickly take notes, and do it in a wiki style manor.
- muCommander - A cross-platform file manager written in Java. It uses a typical file commander design, but includes some nice features such as Bonjour and SFTP support.
I have also contributed a bit to other software projects, primarily through Launchpad, you can see a list of them on my Launchpad translations page.
